Day 1 : Antananarivo - Andasibe
Morning pick up from the hotel. City tour to enjoy the view from the upper town before starting to drive towards Andasibe. Stop along the way to admire beautiful sceneries. At about half way, stop at Madagascar Exotic Park, a small reserve which holds several genus of reptiles. Check the amazing leaf-tailed gecko and a lot of colourful chameleons. Then continue. Upon arrival in Andasibe, check in at the hotel near the reserve. Evening free for a walk in the village. Dinner and overnight at the hotel
Day 2 : Andasibe
Morning drive to Andasibe Mantadia national park. This very luxuriant forest which is about 1h from the village. 4h walk offers opportunity to meet endemic species like the rare bird called pittalike ground roller or endemic lemurs like the diademed sifaka, reptiles, … Picnic lunch. After the visit, back to the hotel. Afternoon visit at "V.O.I" reserve for more wildlife. Later, night walk in search of other species of lemurs, chameleon, frogs... Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 3 : Andasibe
Morning hike at Andasibe Perinet national park. This is the best place to meet the largest species of lemur, the Indri Indri. Meet some birds, reptiles, ... and many others. After the visit, lunch in the nearby restaurant. Then afternoon visit at "Vakona" private reserve and get 'in touch' with those lemurs on a small island. This is also an occasion to see how a "fosa" looks like. After the visit, back to the hotel to prepare for another night walk. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 4 : Andasibe - Antsirabe
Morning departure for Antsirabe. By passing the capital in its suburb and continue South along the central part of Madagascar. Lunch on the way. In Antsirabe, transfer to the hotel. Visit craft workshops working on means of locomotion in miniature from recycled cans, pieces of wood .... or treating the zebu horns for decorations, useful items... Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 5 : Antsirabe
After breakfast, take the road to the West for about 1h drive towards a small village. Leave the car and start a walk through villages of farmers and nice terraced fields. An occasion to get familiar with daily life of the local and enjoy the fresh air of the country side. Picnic lunch. End of the walk by the begining of the afternoon. Continue with the car and drive to Tritriva lake. A short walk around this legendary lake part of an ancient volcano crater which offers a stunning view on the surrounding. Then drive back to the town. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 6 : Antsirabe - Ranomafana
From the morning, start drive to Ranomafana. Stop at Ambositra. Here are shops and craft workshops originally brought in by the Zafimaniry, a small group living in the mountains East of Ambositra. Arts, totems, and many other sculptures in rosewood, ebony, ... Then continue driving through the beautiful landscapes of Betsileo region until the rainforest of Ranomafana. Arriving at the end of the afternoon, check in. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 7 : Ranomafana
Full day to explore Ranomafana national park, hiking in the park again with our local guide to see some species of diurnal lemurs, reptiles, birds and various plants. Check the "Milne Edwards sifaka" or the rare "golden bamboo lemur" ... At midday, back to the hotel for lunch. Late afternoon, back to the forest again in search of other species and go on for a night walk to spot some wildlife (chameleons, frogs, lemurs) for about 1h30. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 8 : Ranomafana - Camp Catta
Start driving after breakfast. Passing through the town of Fianarantsoa for a glimpse at this capital of Catholic religion. Later, a stop at Ambalavao to discover the origin of Antemoro paper which was introduced centuries ago by the Arab immigrants who settled in the south-eastern part of Madagascar. Can buy some souvenirs. Then continue. The last part will be on a dusty off-road for about 2h. Arriving late afternoon, check in at the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 9 : Camp Catta - Ranohira
Morning walk in the sacred forest for discovery and in seach of the ringtail lemurs, reptiles, birds... Then 5 hours drive to Ranohira. En route we pass by Ihosy and then Horombe plateau stretching out of sight. It is the largest plateau of the island and home for herd of Zebu of the Bara. Arrived in Ranohira at the end of afternoon. Evening free. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 10 and 11 : Ranohira
Two days to discover Isalo national park. Isalo is composed of sandstone massif and various natural pools and waterfalls, forest with lemur species such as Maki, Sifaka and Fulvus. Picnic lunch in the park for those two days. After each visit, drive back to the village. Once, we will drive to the window of Isalo which is located 12 km in the western part of the park for a beautiful sunset. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 12 : Ranohira - Toliary - Ifaty / Anakao
Drive about 4 hours to Toliary. After few minutes, passing through the town of Ilakaka the Wild West of Madagascar (the city of sapphire). Then cross the forest of Zombitse and farther some baobabs. Arriving at Tulear, continue driving on a sandy road of the coast for about one and half hour to Ifaty OR have a boat transfer for 1h30 until Anakao. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 13 : Ifaty / Anakao
Day at leisure. Optionnal activities available. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 14 : Ifaty / Anakao - Toliary - Antananarivo
Return to Toliary then transfer to the airport. Flight to Antananarivo. Meet and transfer to hotel on arrival in Antananarivo. Dinner and overnight.
Day 15 : Antananarivo
Possibility to have some visit around the city according to the flight schedule. Visit of Ambohimanga Rova or the "Blue Hill" in the North, local/craft market before transfer to the airport for international flights. Day use at the hotel.
End of program.
