Most of the big rivers flowing into the West to the Mozambique Chanel meet the expectation of those who are fun of river descent. We can mention about Tsiribihina, Manambolo, Betsiboka, Mahavavy, Mangoky though the two first ones remain the most well-known.
Here, we are talking about a slow descent with some nights camping. The Tsiribihina river descent can be done by a local wooden pirogue or a metal boat. 2nights camping and 3 days navigation are needed to link Miandrivazo and Belo/Tsiribihina town. For Manambolo river, it is only possibility is by local pirogue or canoe and may need more than 3 nights/4 days on the river as the navigation is longer but and more interesting because this one ends directly at the Tsingy of Bemaraha national park.
