DETAILS
Day 1 : Antananarivo - Antsirabe
Meet at the airport, departure to Antsirabe. Stop at Ambatolampy to visit a workshop which works on different kitchen utensils made from aluminum, bronze... Then, continue to Antsirabe. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2 : Antsirabe
Full day visit of the city and its surronding. At Antsirabe, you visit the gems lapidary "Chez Joseph" in the city center. Walk through the city with its markets and its hot springs. You can have a rickshaw (the means of urban transport the more common Antsirabe), mountain bike or horse ride. Then, excursion to Tritriva and Andraikiba lake in the afternoon. Evening, back in town. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 3 : Antsirabe - Miandrivazo
After breakfast, head South-West for about 220 km of good road. Picnic lunch en route. Arrived in Miandrivazo, transfer to the hotel and evening free. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 4 to 6 : Down the Tsiribihina river by pirogue
Days for an adventure down the Tsiribihina river by a local wooden pirogue. Departure from the northern side of Miandrivazo. Navigation lasts about 6 to 7 hours per day on the river. Every night, tents set on the banks of the river. Dinner and overnight camping with all teams. All afternoon we have at least two hours of rest in the shade for lunch. Midway, in the part of the Tsiribihina throat relax in a natural pool formed by a waterfall with clear green waters ideal for bathing. During the descent, we pass through many villages, farmers and ranchers of zebu and there are opportunities to visit some villages. Stunning and varied scenery are waiting for you all along the cruise.
Day 7 : Tsiraraka - Belo/Tsiribihina - Bekopaka
Here in the village of Tsiraraka is where we leave the pirogues. An offroad vehicle will be waiting. Drive to Belo-Sur-Tsiribihina in the morning after crossing the Tsiribihina on a ferry boat. Then, in Belo lunch before continuing until Bekopaka (100 km of track). The rest of the day will be devoted to this long journey on track towards the Tsingy, hidden in the bush. At Bekopaka, dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 8 : Small Tsingy and the Throat of Manambolo
In the morning, accompanied by a local guide, start your exploration of the Tsingy world. Initially, you embark on boats to visit the caves in the throat of the Manambolo and its stalactites. After that, continue to walk in the park to see the stalagmites, the beauty of magnificent limestone peaks, very sharp. Picnic lunch. The evening dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 9 : Grand Tsingy
Visit of the Great Tsingy. 17 km from the city of Bekopaka that you reach by car. Always accompanied by your guide and equipped with shoulder harnesses, explore the Tsingy, high of 30 to 50 m. Walkways and wooden bridges, well integrated into the landscape, will help you to continue more easily your visit to the area of Great Tsingy. Picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 10 : Bekopaka - Kirindy
Morning departure from Bekopaka to return to the starting point, passing at Belo then crossing the river by ferry in order to reach the Kirindy forest. Upon arrival, check in at the lodge. Later, go for a night walk of 2 hours in the dense and dry forest to search for nocturnal lemurs, nocturnal reptiles, owls and nightjars, etc.. If you feel lucky, you may see the famous "fosa". This is the largest carnivorous in Madagascar. Dinner and overnight at the forest camp.
Day 11 : Kirindy - Morondava
After breakfast, back in the forest to see 2 species of diurnal lemurs, birds, mammals and reptiles, and flora (and precious wood, medicinal plants). After this visit, leave Kirindy to regain the track. En route, stop in the Baobabs Alley which includes 3 species of the Menabe region, including the famous loversbaobab tree. After that, continue to Morondava. Upon arrival, check in, dinner and overnight at the hotel by the seaside.
Day 12 : Morondava - Belo/Mer
Morning transfer by boat to Belo/Mer. At Belo/Mer, transfert to the hotel. Day at leisure. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 13 : Belo/Mer
Day at leisure.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 14 : Belo/Mer - Morondava - Antananarivo
Transfer by boat to Morondava then by car to the airport. Flight to Antananarivo. Upon arrival, meet and transfer to hotel. Dinner and overnigh.
Day 15 : Antananarivo
Discovery of Antananarivo and its traditional market. Excursion to Ambohimanga at about 28 km North-West of the capital to visit the "Summer Palace", classified World Heritage site. You go through many "tamboho", these old defensive wall, made of red earth. Later, dinner before transfer to the airport for international flight.
